Oncology Nurse Practitioner Opportunity

Centra Medical Group has an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner
to join our Hematology Oncology group. Our ideal candidate would be an
individual who desires to provide excellent, comprehensive, and compassionate
care, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and excels at working independently
with close access to physician collaboration. Oncology experience is desired,
but not required. Consideration would be given to a highly self-motivated new
graduate NP who has exemplified excellent clinical skills and knowledge in NP
student rotations and is willing to obtain AOCNP certification within the first
two years of practice.
Centra
Hematology Oncology is an Outpatient Department of Centra Lynchburg General
Hospital.
This
new and exciting position offers the opportunity to work with a talented team
of oncologists and nurse practitioners, as well
as a full staff of infusion oncology nurses, medical assistants, and certified
technologists with a full on-site lab.
The
position is full-time, Monday-Friday and primarily office-based. Will also
consider an NP that is interested in working part-time – 4 - 8-hour days/week.
Future
opportunity to assist oncologists in hospital rounding.
Job Summary Includes:
· Performing
follow up visits and surveillance for those who have completed cancer treatment
or are currently being managed for a hematologic condition.
· Initiating
appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic medical interventions for those
currently receiving chemotherapies or other therapies. Recognizing normal and
abnormal laboratory, diagnostic findings and pathology involved.
· Completing
episodic/acute visits as well as side effect management. Recognizes emergent
problems.
· Management
of chronic health conditions as they relate to the patient’s cancer care.
· Performing
new hematology consults in coordination with the collaborative physician.
· On-Call
rotation -one week every 4 weeks – working closely with the on-call physician,
during office hours only. This role
assists our triage RN team seeing same day urgent visits, urgent telehealth,
and assisting infusion RNs with urgent patient needs and infusion reactions.
