Position:  Medical Director Primary Care

Reports to: Chief Medical Officer

FSLA: Exempt

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

On-call: 1 week rotation every 6 weeks

Position Summary:

Community Access Network is a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC LAL) in Lynchburg, VA providing high-quality primary care, specialty medical, behavioral health, dental care, and enabling services to over 6,000 patients each year. Community Access Network is current recruiting to fill a new leadership position, Medical Director Primary Care. This position plays an important role in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, and community-based comprehensive primary care. The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the quality of primary care services provided by Community Access Network. The Medical Director provides clinical and administrative leadership for patient care teams of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses. The Medical Director participates in Community Access Network's quality program and assists in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures. This position includes approximately 30 hours per week of direct patient care responsibilities.

Required License and Certification:

Current licensure as an MD/DO to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Board-certified in Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics. Current DEA registration. At least three years of clinical experience. Must be able to meet and maintain current Community Access Network credentialing and privileging requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated interest in improving the healthcare of Community Access Network's predominantly low-income and culturally diverse population.  Electronic Health Record and practice management software experience (eClinicalWorks). Experience providing clinical care within an FQHC. Experience in directing clinical teams, including providing clinical supervision of nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants.
